Aims & Objectives

To improve the participants’ capability of applying Chinese language, meeting the standards of undergraduate admission; help to lay a solid foundation for the future professional learning.

To instruct advanced vocabulary and basic knowledge in business, economy, trade and other professional fields, preparing the participants to pass HSK level 4-6 with high scores as well as to apply for majors like Chinese Language, Business Chinese, Business Administration, etc in the future.

To enable the participants use fluent Chinese to conduct daily communication and official speech around various topics; enhance practical skills of reading and writing long texts to get ready for undergraduate thesis writing.

Curriculum Framework

Duration: 1.5 years (can be enrolled by semester, and can be transferred into the second or third semester)

The 1st semester: Start from March (16 weeks) and for total beginners. After the first semester, the participants’ Chinese level can reach HSK2-3.

Guidance for Bachelor Programs’ Admission

*Note: Participants who study Higher Mathematics are supposed to choose one course from macroeconomics or Chinese Society & Culture.

Program Uniqueness

1. Obtain credits for some undergraduate courses in advance, effectively connecting the undergraduate learning.

2. The program duration is relatively flexible. If the participants are admitted into the bachelor programs with the School of International Chinese Studies, ECNU through transfer tests in every February, they could graduate from the Pre-College Program immediately and enter the undergraduate program.

3. Ensure the learning outcomes with high-quality teaching as well as strict management measures, such as to arrange on-campus accommodation; to provide guidance about scholarship policies and curriculums of different majors; to allow the participants to observe the professional courses of the bachelor programs.

4. Organize rich language practice activities; promote cultural and academic exchanges with Chinese peer students, helping the participants to integrate into campus life smoothly.

5. Diversified curriculum to help participants deeply understand the Chinese contemporary society and culture; Rich cultural practice and activities to enable them experience customs of different regions in China.

Credit Recognition

The participants are able to have the credits of the corresponding courses transferred to their bachelor program if they pass exams of the five courses below in the third semester of the Pre-college Program after they are admitted into any undergraduate major from the School of International Chinese Studies, ECNU.

*Note: The scores have a two-year validity period. If you apply for the undergraduate programs of the School of International Chinese Studies, ECNU after over two years, the credits will not be recognized.

2020 Spring Semester Schedule

*Note: A minimum of 8 applicants required to start a class.

Application Eligibility

1. High school qualification or above with valid foreign passport; physically and psychologically healthy.

2. Those overseas applicants who were citizens of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan apply to the relevant regulations formulated by the Ministry of Education of China.

3. Guardian's letter of guarantee is required for applicants under 18 years old. If the applicant’s parents are out of China, an entrusted foreign or Chinese resident in China is required to be as the guardian.

3. Senior high school diploma and transcript.

①The original one must be in Chinese or English with official stamps of the high school or authorized educational institute or notarized copy in notarized Chinese or English translation

②Graduating students should provide a certificate of impending graduation.

4.For those who apply to transfer into the second semester of the program, you have to reach HSK2-3 or pass the Chinese proficiency interview test by the university. For those who apply to transfer into the third semester of the program, you have to reach HSK 4 or pass the Chinese proficiency interview test by the university.

5.Letter of self-recommendation (300-500 words. Explain the purpose and study plan in China)

Click “Online Application” on ECNU website: http://lxs.ecnu.edu.cn.
Please register and submit the online application. Upload your application documents and pay the 400 RMB application fee online (or upload the remittance of bank transfer or payment receipt from the office), which won’t be refunded.

2.Track Status Online

Pay attention to your email box or login in your ECNU online application account to check your application status. You will receive interview notice via Email .

* Make sure your email address is correct and check your email box occasionally, otherwise you might miss some IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
