The University of Virginia (UVa) Summer 2011 Intensive Chinese Language Program at ECNU has finished its first semester successfully. Starting from summer 2006, this program has not only helped more than a hundred UVa students improve their Chinese language level rapidly in only two month, but also provided high-quality training for the post graduate students majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language in our school.
During the first three weeks, students were offered intensive Chinese language courses every day. They also had language practicums each week. On June 8th afternoon, students went to No. 2 Caoyang Middle School to observe the College Entrance Examination and communicate with the anxious parents waiting outside the school gate. Through this activity, students were able to understand more about the education system in China while practicing their Chinese language.
Students also have other activities, such as Shanghai one-day tour, communicating with ECNU students on Minhang Campus and visiting their dorms, trip to Hangzhou, etc. They are leaving for a Beijing trip tonight and will continue their second semester next week.
