Duration: one semester or more

             Late February (Spring semester)

Class hour: 32 class hours per week (1 class hour = 45 minutes)
                     Morning: From Monday to Friday, from 8:30 to 11:45, 20 class hours (Chinese)
                     Afternoon: Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday, Friday 13:30-16:00,12 class hours (English)

Application Deadline: Jan 10th (Spring Semester), July 31st (Fall Semester)

Eligibility

  1. 16 years old and above with valid passport
  2. Beginning English level

Course Introduction

  1. Improve both Chinese and English levels at the same time.
  2. Credit English language courses which can be counted in our undergraduate programs in the Department of Chinese as a Foreign Language.
  3. In the form of small group instruction with less than 15 students in one class.
  4. Some English classes instructed by native speakers in a total immersion and easy-going atmosphere.
  5. High-tech teaching modle enables learning through a practical and interesting way.

Levels:

Elementary & Intermediate
Students can be placed into different levels of classes according to their bilingual background.

Core courses for elementary level:

Courses Goals
Integrated Chinese Pinyin and basic vocabulary&grammar. A good command of the principles of the characters’ framework and pronunciation. Possession of the capability of writing certain number of the characters. Have conversations with the Chinese people on regular topics.
Spoken Chinese This course is synchronized with reading class, which helps the students to enhance the new grasped vocabulary and grammar, thus improving their communication skills.
Integrated English Learn 2500 words and 400-500 set phrases.
Spoken English Understand daily conversations and use basic strategy in communication.

Core courses for intermediate level:

Courses Goals
Integrated Chinese A better sense of the language, commanding more difficult and complicated sentence structures.
Spoken Chinese This course aims at helping students improve the communication skill required for daily contexts.
Integrated English Learn 4000-4500 words and 700 set phrases.
Spoken English Understand English teaching courses and lectures on a general sense. Be able to communicate with native speakers in daily contexts. Can give a 5-10 minutes speech on a familiar topic.
