Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship 2013 --Type A & B

 1.     Introduction

Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship was established in 2006 with the aims to enhance the development of international student education in Shanghai and encourage more and more outstanding international students and scholars to ECNU.

2.     Categories and applicants

1)    Type A (Full scholarship)

Applicants must be excellent international students in pursuit of graduate degree.

2)    Type B (Partial scholarship)

Applicants must be excellent international students of degree studies.

3.     Scholarship coverage

1)    Type A

       Exempt from tuition fee, fee for basic learning materials, and accommodation on campus; provide insurance for major diseases & accidents and monthly allowance ( Master’s degree students: CNY 1,700 Yuan; Doctoral degree students: CNY 2,000 Yuan)

 

2)    Type B

       Exempt from tuition fee, and fee for basic learning materials.

4.     Eligibility

1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.

2) Education background and age limit:

Applicants for bachelor’s degree program must have high school diploma and be under 25.

Applicants for master’s degree program must have bachelor’s degree and be under 35.

Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master’s degree and under 40.

3)  Excellent in academic achievement

4)  Applicants can not be the holders of any other kinds of Chinese government scholarship.

5.     Application documents

The applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely and mail the documents to the International Students Office of East China Normal University.

1)    Type A

Application Form for Type A Scholarshipfilled in Chinese or EnglishYou must register and apply online at www.study-Shanghai.org (the agency code of ECNU is 10269), and then print it out.

Highest diploma (notarized photocopy): If applicants are university students, they should also provide studying certificates from their university. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

Academic transcripts (notarized photocopy): Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

A study or research plan. All applicants are required to submit a study or research plan. It must be in Chinese or in English and no less than 1000 words.

Recommendation letters: Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.

Health certificate (photocopy).

HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test) Certificate. It is not required if the courses are taught in English.

Applicants for Music major and Fine Arts must submit their own works.

2)    Type B

Highest diploma (notarized photocopy): If applicants are university students or at work, they should also provide studying certificates from their university or working certificates from their companies. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

* Application documents will not be returned whether the applicants are admitted by ECNU or not.

7Application deadline

Your application documents should reach the International Students Office of ECNU by 15th May 2013.
