On the morning of March 23rd, 2015, the Study China Programme, jointly organized by East China Normal University and Manchester University for British university students, successfully began. Prof. Shijun Tong, Chancellor of the University Concil, Miss. Phoebe Spurr, the Program Supervisor from Manchester, Ms. Meixu Huang, the Director of the Global Education Center, and the Deputy Director, Mr. Gang Wang attended the opening ceremony.
During the ceremony, Prof. Shijun Tong warmly welcomed the international students to Shanghai and introduced the history of the East China Normal University briefly. He also expressed his hope that they will have an unforgettable Easter holiday at ECNU. The Program Supervisor from Manchester University, Miss. Phoebe Spurr followed with a speech that presented her thanks to ECNU for the host and organization.
The Study China Programme has been successfully launched in ECNU since 2008, within over 1000 British students took visiting studying via this program. This is the eighth year that ECNU has organized this exchange program, and a total of 66 British students are in attendance. During the next three weeks of study and tour activities, they will learn the Chinese language, attend classes taught in English that examine Chinese economic and political themes, take lessons in Chinese martial and calligraphy, as well as express the lives of Shanghai people and their customs to develop a further understanding of Chinese culture.
