Master Program Students

1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, under the age of 45, and in good physical and mental health.

2) Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or above, with at least three years of work experience. Those with academic or professional backgrounds related to the applied program will be given priority.

3) Applicants must fall into one of the following four categories:

① A government official at the division chief level (or equivalent level) or above;

② A senior manager of an institution or enterprise;

③ An administrator of a university or scientific research institution;

④ Those who have relevant employment or internship experience in international organizations.

Full scholarship (tuition waiver; and during the first academic year in China, on-campus accommodation, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance etc. will be provided)

The program follows a "1+1 model":

• First academic year: Students study full-time at East Chna Normal University (ECNU), completing foundational coursework, research, and thesis preparation.

• Second academic year: Students return to their home country to complete the thesis in combination with their professional work. They will return to ECNU for thesis defense as required. Those who successfully pass the defense and other graduation requirements will be awarded the degree.

1. Complete ECNU (East China Normal University) Online Application

(1) Submit the Application on ECNU's online application system: http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn/

(2) Wait for the university's review and approval to receive the Pre-Admission Letter.

2. Complete CSC (China Scholarship Council) Online Application

(1) Submit the application on CSC website: https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login

(2) Fill in the following details:

3. Wait for the Scholarship Result

The China Scholarship Council will conduct a preliminary review and organize an expert panel evaluation. The final admission result will be announced after the review process.

NOTES:

1. Incomplete applications or those missing the application fee by the deadline will not be processed.

2. The application fee is non-refundable, regardless of admission results.

3. No hard copies of application materials need to be mailed, or faxed. However, ECNU or the relevant school/department reserves the right to request original documents or certified copies for verification purposes.

Please complete the online application at ECNU website (http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn/) and pay the application fee of RMB 800, as instructed in the application procedures mentioned above.

Note: Scanned copies of the documents are required. If the documents are not in Chinese or English, a notarized translation in Chinese or English is required.

2. Photocopy of Passport and Visa

Provide the personal information page and any Chinese visa pages if applicable.

3. Graduation & Degree Certificates and Official Academic Transcript

Applicants should submit a bachelor's degree certificate and a complete academic transcript from the undergraduate studies. 

4. Language Proficiency Certificate

Applicants must submit an effective English proficiency test certificate, or other equivalent certificates reviewed and approved by ECNU.

Applicants who have completed undergraduate or master's studies in English must submit a Medium of Instruction Certificate on university letterhead, issued by the university's registrar or graduate office. Upon approval, this can replace the English Proficiency Test Certificate.

5. Two Recommendation Letters

Must be written in Chinese or English by scholars with the title of associate professor or higher, or by senior professionals in a related field. The recommendation letter should be issued after September 1st, 2025. The recommendation letter MUST include the recommender's job title, place of work, contact number, email address and signature.

6. Personal Statement / Study Plan

Length: Minimum of 1000 words

Language: English

Content: Should include but not limited to, personal study or work experience, academic research achievements, research plan, and personal goals after graduation. Academic and research abilities should be highlighted.

7. Valid Health Certificate (within 6 months)

The physical examination report must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and include a detailed blood test report. Forms will be considered invalid if missing a sealed photograph of the applicant, the hospital's official stamp, or the physician's signature.

8. Valid Non-Criminal Record Certificate

Applicants shall submit a valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued within 6 months before the application by the local public security authority (such as a police station). Applicants in China can obtain the Non-Criminal Record Certificate from the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau.

9. Employment Certificate

Applicants must fall into one of the following four categories:

10. Working Experience Certificate

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or above, with at least three years of work experience. Those with academic or professional backgrounds related to the applied program will be given priority. 

11. Research Achievements (if any)

Provide a catalog and abstract of published papers, or other original research achievements (if applicable) to demonstrate academic capability.

12. Award Certificates (if any)

1. Any falsification or misrepresentation in application materials will result in immediate disqualification.

2. Scholarship recipients who cannot register on time must notify ECNU in writing at least 15 days before the registration date, stating the reason. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of the scholarship.

3. Students who fail the entrance medical examination, withdraw, or suspend their studies will have their scholarship terminated.
