On December 20th, "Through Herbs and Scents: A journey to the TCM Cultural Experience",organized by the Academic Department of ISU, was successfully held.

The activity aims to allowing students to temporarily set aside their worries, relax both body and mind, and experience the unique charm of Traditional Chinese Medicine in a light and welcoming atmosphere.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
The event began with a “Traditional Chinese
Medicine Mini Lecture”. The speaker introduced the history and core philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in a relaxed and accessible way, with a special focus on the concept of “food and medicine sharing the same origin”. Using everyday ingredients such as jujubes, goji berries, and longan, the speaker helped students better understand the close relationship between diet and health.

While listening attentively, students also had the opportunity to taste these ingredients, which are both flavorful and beneficial, allowing them to truly experience how the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine is deeply embedded in daily dietary practices of Chinese people.
During the handmade sachet session, five herbal formulas with different effects, such as calming the mind, refreshing the spirit, and dispelling cold, were prepared. After learning about the functions of each herb, students carefully selected the ingredients based on their personal needs and preferences, then handcrafted and filled their sachets themselves.
Sensory interaction
In the subsequent “Sensory Interaction” mini-game, students were blindfolded and relied solely on touch and smell to identify common Chinese medicinal herbs.

This innovative approach to learning is not only enjoyable, but also allows participants to gain a more intuitive and profound understanding of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs through focused engagement. It truly enables learning through interaction and comprehension through experience.
The event received overwhelming positive feedback from students. After the event, many participants expressed their sincere gratitude and recognition, and shared their hopes for more activities that combine practical experience with knowledge in the future. Such heartfelt feedback made the members of ISU feel deeply encouraged and fulfilled.
