Program Duration:

Class Schedule:
①Beginner level: Monday to Friday 13:30pm-15:00pm, 15:15pm-16:45pm, 4 class hours each session (1 class hour = 45 minutes), 20 class hours per week.
②Non-beginner levels: Monday to Friday 8:30am-10:00am, 10:15am-11:45am, 4 class hours each session (1 class hour = 45 minutes), 20 class hours per week.

Textbooks:
40 Lessons for Basic Chinese, Developing Chinese, Advanced Chinese News Reading Course, China Focus, etc. Teachers will provide a list of textbooks at the beginning of the semester, and students may purchase textbooks based on the list for their classes.
Small Class: No more than 25 people per class.
Various Courses: ECNU outstanding Chinese teaching team helps to improve students’ Chinese language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing face-to-face.
Graded Course: 11 grades of course provided which exactly match students’ Chinese proficiency levels.
Enriched Program: HSK Test Preparation, Chinese Pronunciation Correction and other elective courses are offered (free of charge, limited places available).
Field Trip: Organized once a semester, and students may voluntarily sign up to enjoy the natural and humanistic landscapes and learn about Chinese society and culture (separate fee, voluntary enrollment, and ECNU pays part of travel agency fees).
Completion Certificate: All students receive a transcript at the end of the semester and a certificate of completion for those who meet the completion requirements.

★When submitting your application, please ensure that your passport remains valid throughout the entire study period of the program for which you are applying. In principle, requests to update passport information will not be accepted prior to enrollment and registration.

Study Certificate/Highest Diploma (Chinese/English version)
★Applicants for Chinese language programs must have completed high school or obtained an equivalent or higher level of education. All application materials must be submitted in Chinese or English. If the original documents are in another language, notarized translations must also be provided.
Certificate of Enrollment or Transcript from an Educational Institution in China
★If you are currently studying in China, please submit a certificate of enrollment issued by your current school (a certificate of completion must be submitted after completion of your studies) or a transcript.

Guarantee Statement
★Applicants who are 16 years old or above but under 18 years old at the time of enrollment must submit a Guarantee Statement. The guardian must be a Chinese citizen or a foreign national residing in China.

A full refund is available for those who give up enrollment and complete the withdrawal procedures and visa cancellation procedures before the semester start date (by March 1st, 2027, inclusive); 70% refund for those who complete the withdrawal procedures and visa cancellation procedures within the first two weeks after the semester start date (by March 15th, 2027, inclusive); no refund afterwards.
Important Reminders
1. To ensure the proper functioning of the program, students who have paid their tuition fees will not be permitted to transfer to another Chinese language program during their first semester.
2. Tuition refunds will be processed in RMB (Chinese Yuan). After receiving all required refund documents, the University will transfer the refund to a Chinese bank account. If the student does not have a Chinese bank account, they may authorize another person to receive the refund on their behalf.
ECNU will provide students enrolled in the Long‑Term Chinese Language Program with the documents required to apply for a study visa. Students who have been admitted and paid the tuition fee will receive the Admission Letter and Visa Application Form (JW202/JW201/DQ) by email. Students should apply for an X1 or X2 study visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their country or region of residence. Please allow sufficient time for visa processing. Students are expected to arrive at ECNU and complete registration on the designated date according to ECNU’s schedule. Please do not enter China too early, as this may result in overstaying your visa.
The first round of accommodation reservations for new students is expected to open in late December 2026. Students are required to pay their tuition fees in advance to be eligible to book accommodation. Accommodation will be offered subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Further details will be communicated via email.
