On 4/3 and 4/7, the Overseas Department of the International Students Union held two online sessions guiding students on the proper steps for returning to China. This is the perfect tool to help students get ready for coming back to school! If you missed the online sharing session, don't worry! Take a look at the tips compiled for your convenience!

1. Pre-Departure

1.1 Fill out the form below to indicate desire to return to obtain visa application materials

Haven't taken the questionnare yet? Hurry and open the link above to fill it out and the program coordinator will contact you and provide you with visa application materials~

* Since it takes time to prepare and send materials, it is recommended that you fill out the questionnaire at least 2 months in advance before coming to China.

1.2 Applying for a student visa

After receiving the neccesary application materials, make sure you go to the Chinese embassy in your country to apply for a visa 1-2 months before you plan to enter the country. If you apply too early, your visa may expire. If you apply too late, it may not be ready in time.

1.3 Purchasing flight tickets & Booking dorm

After obtaining the visa and buying the air ticket, please fill in the above questionnaire again. If you indicate on the form that you need on-campus housing, the teacher in charge of dormitory reservation will contact you.

Notice before crossing the border

Quarantine is no longer required~ However, be aware of the following procedures!

1. Traveler must acquire a negative nucleic acid certificate within 48 hours before arriving in China.

2. Entry declaration card:

1) The entry declaration card needs to be filled out before boarding the plane.

2) Having difficulties filling out the entry declaration card? Don't worry, airport staff can help you figure it out.

* Please note that specific information is subject to change upon the notice of the airline and the Chinese embassy!

2. After Arrival

After arriving, how do I get to the campus? What procedures need to be taken after entering the country? Please see related information below~

2.1 Transportation

Students who live in Zhongbei Campus: due to the limited opening hours of the North Gate and West Gate, if you arrive after 11:00 p.m., please take a taxi to the main entrance (the main entrance is open 24 hours)

The above slides include the approximate time and cost of arriving at the school from the airports. Please download them for your convenience.

** Please use the airport's official taxi station to find a taxi (simply follow the airport signs). If there is a driver outside the offical taxi station trying to give you a ride (soliciters) ,DO NOT employ their services! ! ! They will charge you 2-3 times more than an official taxi.

2.2 Student Card

When entering the campus for the first time, you will need to present the QR code version of thecampus card. How to obtain an electronic campus card:

1) Enter the ECNU ECard mini program.

2) Enter student ID number and public database password to login.

   Username: Student ID Number

   Password: If the public database password has not been changed, it is usually "the last six digits of the passport (Master and Doctorate students enter twice, and other students enter once)"

3) Please refer to the slide above that shows the successful retreival of the electronic campus card.

After successfully receiving your card, you can recharge it in this same mini program~

2.3 Temporary Residence Registration Form

1) Students living on campus or in a hotel can go to the front desk to receive a temporary residence registration form.

2) Students who live off-campus, please scan the QR code to register, and save the electronic version of the accommodation registration form; if there is no electronic version, you need to bring your passport and lease contract to the local police station for processing.

2.4 Bank Account

1) Please check the picture above for the materials required to apply for the ICBC card and the bank addresses of the two campuses~

2) The bank card needs to be bound to a mobile phone number, so please purchase a SIM card according to your needs before applying for a bank card~

* The bank card needs to be activated for one week before it can be used.

2.5 Residence Permit

Travelers entering the country with an XI visa need to apply for a residence permit within one month. Please see how to apply by following the steps below:

1) Physical examination, use the booking website provided below：https://online.shhg12360.cn/sithc/

2) After receiving the medical report, contact the teacher to obtain the visa materials.

3) After receiving the materials, you can apply for a residence permit at the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau.

* This step is not required for students to enter the country on an X2 visa.
