From March 27th to 30th, 2025, the Global Education Center of ECNU held a “second classroom” activity for international students, which attracted nearly 160 international students to participate. The big group was divided into two routes: Jiangxi and Zhejiang.
Route 1 ZHEJIANG
1. Linhai Great Wall
At the Linhai Great Wall, the international students felt as if they had traveled back in time. Walking along the ancient wall and touching the weathered bricks, they listened to stories about its history. Through this visit, they gained a deeper understanding of ancient Chinese architectural wisdom and military defense systems and expressed admiration for the wisdom and creativity of ancient Chinese laborers.
2. Shenxianju Scenic Area
The international students were deeply impressed by the mystical peaks, crystal waters, and sea of clouds with Buddha's halo at Shenxianju Scenic Area. Wandering through the breathtaking landscape, they marveled at nature's divine craftsmanship - the fairyland-like scenery truly lived up to its name as the "Abode of Immortals".
3. Mount Taintai
Mount Tiantai’s natural beauty and Buddhist culture complement each other, offering the international students a unique experience. By visiting the historic Guoqing Temple, they gained insight into the spread and development of Buddhism in China and developed a deeper understanding of why ancient Chinese scholars and poets were so enamored with Mount Tiantai.
4. Mount Chicheng
The most memorable spots for students at Mount Chicheng are Jigong East Garden and LiangFei Pagoda. Jigong East Garden was built in memory of the Buddhist Zen master Jigong. It features the Hall of Jigong's Hundred Postures, which showcases stories of Jigong helping the poor and the needy. Listening to the tour guide's folk tales, the students seemed to see Jigong's figure punishing the evil and promoting the good in the marketplace.
Route 2 JIANGXI
1.Huangling Village
In Huangling Village, nestled in the mountains of Wuyuan, Jiangxi, the international students strolled along rustic cobblestone paths, admiring ancient Ming and Qing architecture and experiencing the tranquil rural atmosphere. They visited ancestral halls to learn about family culture, witnessed the traditional practice of autumn drying of colorful crops, and participated in making handicrafts and tasting farmhouse cuisine. This experience gave them a vivid understanding of traditional Chinese rural culture.
2. Mount Sanqing
In early spring, the spring chill was still lingering. As the international students took the cable car to ascend Mount Sanqing to an altitude of 1,800 meters, they were greeted with an unexpected delight upon reaching the summit—flurries of snow that transformed the peaks into a picturesque scene. Treading on the thin layer of snow, they walked along the winding mountain paths, weaving through the misty granite peaks and experiencing the grandeur and tranquility of nature.
3. Zhuxi Ancient Street
Zhuxi Ancient Street located in the urban area of Shangrao, is a street that gathers ancient buildings in the Ming and Qing styles from different regions. In the drizzle, international students walked slowly. The bluestone path reflected the mottled walls, outlining a quaint and elegant picture. The fusion of different architectural styles here turns the entire street into an open-air historical museum, with every corner becoming a perfect framing spot for the camera lens, allowing students to fully capture the beauty of light and shadow.
