The 4th "Guochao Yaji" Traditional Chinese Culture Carnival of the Featured Chinese Program at East China Normal University concluded successfully on campus. Under the theme "Elegant Traditions, Craftsmanship Preserved," the event featured ten immersive experience stations—including martial arts, tea ceremony, traditional Chinese medicine, calligraphy, folk music, and handicrafts—opening a cultural dialogue spanning thousands of years of Chinese civilization for international students from around the world.

The carnival set up ten themed experience zones covering martial arts, Chinese tea ceremony, traditional musical instruments, dumpling making and Chinese cuisine, Mahjong, oil-paper umbrella painting, traditional Chinese medicine culture, Chinese knotting, willow weaving, and calligraphy, among other intangible cultural heritage projects.International students from across the globe moved between the various experience zones, experiencing the unique charm of Chinese culture through hands-on practice. At the martial arts zone, students followed professional instructors to learn the gentle, fluid movements of Tai Chi and the powerful strikes of Shaolin Kung Fu, grasping the philosophical essence of Chinese martial arts—"conquering the rigid with the soft" and "cultivating both inner and outer strength"—through every stance and form. The tea ceremony session allowed students to gather around for tea tasting, experiencing the Oriental aesthetic of "spring breeze and nourishing rain" amidst the rising fragrance of tea. Additionally, the traditional Chinese medicine culture zone showcased the profound depth of traditional medicine to international students through pulse diagnosis and acupressure point explanations. The calligraphy experience zone enabled students to wield brushes and express emotions through ink and paper. Handicraft projects such as Chinese knotting and willow weaving allowed participants to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of traditional Chinese arts through threading needles and weaving strands.

The Featured Chinese Program of the School of International Chinese Studies at East China Normal University will continue to innovate activity formats in the future, developing more cultural experience programs that combine both professionalism and entertainment, contributing to the cultivation of international talents who understand China, befriend China, and love China, while promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and the rest of the world.
