On the morning of July 14, 2025, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Youth Leadership Program, hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and organized by the East China Normal University, was successfully launched. Attendees at the opening ceremony included Bei Wenli, Director of the Belarus Research Center, Wang Gang, Deputy Director of the Global Education Center, faculty and students from the Belarus Research Center at Zhejiang Shuren University, the Shanghai Russian Language Enthusiasts Club, and the Russian Department of ECNU, as well as 40 program participants from the SCO member countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan).

    To celebrate the opening of the summer school, Bai Yangqing and Li Ao from the ECNU Student Art Troupe performed the Chinese ethnic dance “Wild Geese” and the solo song "Dudalay". Emiliano from Mexico played the theme song “That's Nezha” from the Chinese animated film “Nezha” on the violin, creating a lively atmosphere with continuous applause.

    Over the next four weeks, the students will enhance their language skills and deepen their understanding of the global community of shared future through Chinese cultural courses, themed lectures, round-table forums, and National Day exhibitions. Additionally, cultural courses, cultural field trips, and creative competitions will allow students to experience the profound heritage of Chinese culture and appreciate the unique charm of Shanghai, the “Magic City.”

    The SCO Member Youth Leadership Program is one of the projects under “Shanghai Summer School”. This year marks the 14th time East China Normal University has hosted the event since 2010. A total of 40 students from 36 universities participated in this year's program.
