"Building a metro requires people from different teams and cultural backgrounds to work together and strive for a common goal." LIEVANO BORDA NICOLAS told everyone in an interview with China Daily about his beautiful encounter with China.Nicolas, a 2020 Colombian alumnus, studied Business Chinese at School of International Chinese Studies of East China Normal University and is currently the technical coordinator for the Bogota Metro Line 1 project.This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and a key node in the joint construction of the it. Behind the infrastructure of the Belt and Road Initiative, the recognition of peoples' culture and values help support our cooperation.
Although far away from each other at the other sides of the earth, China, Colombia and their peoples are connected by the Bogota Metro Line 1 building and some Colombian young builders who have deep feelings for China are bridging the process. Nicolas, a "China expert", is becoming the backbone of this group of young builders. When he talked about his relationship with China, it was an unforgettable experience of living and studying at East China Normal University.
“In order to quickly improve my Chinese proficiency, I often went to the park to chat with uncles and aunts, and danced with them. "Nicolas started his trip to China at East China Normal University in 2014. In addition to studying, he actively integrated into local culture and gained insights into the power of "filial piety"culture. During his school years, he was very active and participated in various clubs, international cultural festivals, volunteer works and teaching in rural areas.
He also participated in training and competitions for the dragon boat team and won four championships for the university. He was also an indispensable student backbone during school. As he said, "In the Bogota Metro Line 1 project, I feel particularly like rowing a dragon boat.
