On the morning of September 13, the Featured Chinese Program of Global Education Center from East China Normal University held a memorable welcome ceremony in Physics Building. A total of more than 260 international students from 40 countries around the world gathered together and embarked on their Chinese journey. They are from the Intensive, Business Chinese Program, and GCP Program.
Ms. Zhang Lu, on behalf of Global Education Center, delivered a speech, welcomed the students warmly and encourage them to fit into the college life and Chinese culture, so that they can enhance the passion and confidence about Chinese learning, improve their cross-culture communication ability, and harvest all-round growth in East China Normal University.
Mareeka, a student from Indonesia, shared her experience of studying abroad in East China Normal University and encouraged all the students to adapt to the new environment, study with full efforts and achieve some goals with the help of their teachers.
Mr. Lucas Li, a representative alumni of East China Normal University, who is also the General Manager of Trung Nguyen Legend Coffee in Greater China also shared his study experience and his entrepreneurial experience in Shanghai. He showed students the method of learning Chinese: have a clear goal, practice hard and never give up. Meanwhile, he also shared his achievements of learning Chinese: " We learn not only a language, but also a culture and way of life.”
Next, two wonderful lectures —— "Approaching Shanghai" and "Program Introduction" help freshmen to have an in-depth understanding of the charm of Shanghai and the subsequent program arrangement. Ms. Da Ren introduced the history, economy, culture and recreational activities in Shanghai to the students. Ms. Lisa Wang introduced the schedule, learning arrangement and teaching team, so as to help the students understand the future study life and prepare for the course.
Finally, under the leadership of the teachers, the students were divided into several teams and completed a series of interesting games through group cooperation. In the activity, students became more familiar with each other, and felt the importance of teamwork.
Through the orientation activity, the students got more familiar with the teachers and students around them, and had a preliminary understanding of their future study and life.
