Full-time Bachelor Program
Program: Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (BTCSOL)
Period: 4 years
a) Non-Chinese citizens;
b) Friendly towards China, with no criminal record, abide by the laws and regulations of China and the rules and regulations of ECNU;
c) Physically and mentally healthy, with good moral and academic performance;
d) Aspire to engage in Chinese language education and related work;
Applicants for undergraduate program must have high school diploma.
Under 25 years old (calculated as of September 1, 2025).
Applicants should have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK Test (Intermediate Level).
Exempt from tuition fee.
Provide accommodation on campus: economic double room (public restroom). If you choose to live off-campus and get approval from the university, off-campus living allowance is 700 RMB/month/person.
Living allowance: 2500 RMB/month. Students who register on or before the 15th of the month will receive the full monthly living allowance for that month. Those who register after the 15th will receive half a month's living allowance.
Provide comprehensive medical care insurance for International Students: 800 RMB/person/year.

2. Submit ICLTS online application
Applicant should register and apply online through http://cis.chinese.cn from Feb 20 to May 15. Submit online application and download the application form.
Regarding Recommending Institutions:
1) Applicants can log in to the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship section of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation website (http://www.chinese.cn) to search for recommending institutions and host institutions.
2) Chinese Bridge Award Recipients: Those who have received an "International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship Certificate" in various Chinese Bridge competitions should log in to the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship website and submit application materials to the target host institution with the scholarship certificate. For any questions, please contact chinesebridge@chinese.cn.
3) If an applicant decides to choose "East China Normal University" as the recommending institution, please select "East China Normal University" in the HSK test center (non-Confucius Institute) - Asia - China - drop-down list. The recommendation letter can be downloaded here:
After selecting the recommending institution and submitting the online application, applicants should contact the recommending institution for online recommendation.
We will contact the applicants via emails or phone calls during the enrollment. Please be sure that you provided with valid contact information.
Check your email or log in to your ECNU online application account to track your application status.
* Make sure your email address is correct and check your email regularly to avoid missing IMPORTANT INFORMATION such as interview arrangements.
Adminssion results will be announced through the ECNU application account. Admitted students must register on time with the original graduation certificate and degree certificate. Registration will be canceled if failure to provide the original certificate.

* Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.
3) Highest diploma & Academic transcripts (original or notarized photocopy): Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
4) A study or research plan. All applicants are required to submit a study or research plan. It must be in Chinese or in English and no less than 800 words.

(The original copy should be kept by the applicant.) The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Please select the appropriate time to take medical examination as it is valid for only 6 months.
7) HSK & HSKK Certificate (the Chinese Proficiency Test, Valid for 2 years).
8) Non-criminal Certificate (notarized photocopy in English or Chinese)

1. Application documents sent by email or fax are not accepted.
2. Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed.
3. Application documents and application fee will not be returned or refunded regardless of admission status.
4. Applicants will be disqualified from application in case of fraudulent application materials.
5. Scholarship winners who cannot register with the host institutions on time should inform the host institution about the reasons in written form within 15 days before the admission date. For those who do not register as requested without reason, the scholarship will be canceled.
6. Scholarship will be canceled for those who do not pass the admission physical examination, drop out, or take schooling suspension during the study.
