I am grateful for being granted the opportunity to participate in the ECNU short term summer language program and to be supported financially by the Australian government. My language ability has definitely improved both from classes, led by Dai WeiWei (a kind person and great teacher), and the out of class activities.

I loved learning about Chinese culture and participating in the art activities - the fan calligraphy and painting was a highlight!

Living in the dormitory, allowed me to make new friends and to practice my Mandarin and Shanghainese. The ladies at the front reception, Maggie and Lili, will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you Maggie for teaching me those funny phrases in Shanghainese.

The campus at ECNU is gorgeous- it felt like I was living in a private garden. There is even a lake! Seeing the pagodas and flowers, I truly felt immersed in Chinese culture.

Even when encountering challenges with my health, the staff at ECNU were extremely responsive and helpful. Thank you to Emily for helping me to get a medical appointment!

Overall, it had been a great experience. Thank you ANU & ECNU for making it possible for me to learn Chinese during my winter/summer holidays :)
