Eligibility
Non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport.
Ph.D program applicants should have a Master's degree or an equivalent degree to a Master's degree (or above) in China.
HSK Level 5 over 210 or HSK Level 6 over 180 is required, and priority is given to applicants with higher level of proficiency in Chinese under same conditions.

Scholarship Coverage
Tuition fees, living allowances, research subsidy, etc.
*Scholarship winners of China Studies Program have the opportunity to participate in customized forums, seminars, workshops, and other scholarly events, receive expert guidance from supervisors at both Chinese and international universities, and engage in valuable conversations with scholars from all over the world. After graduation, these students are given priority for additional programs under the China Studies Program, such as assistance with publishing doctoral dissertations and translations, the chance to further their studies in China, and invitations to attend international academic conferences.

Application Procedures
The applicant shall submit the online application at both Scholarship website: http://www.chinese.cn/page/#/pcpage/csp and ECNU website: http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn/. Please Upload application documents and pay the 800 RMB application fee online, which won't be refunded no matter admitted or not.

Application Documents
Notarized transcripts of undergraduate and Master's studies, degree certificates and a Chinese translation for each
Recommendation letters in Chinese or English from two experts in the field, including professors or associate professors
The issue date of the recommendation letter should be later than September 1st, 2025.
The recommendation letter MUST include the recommender’s designation, working place, contact telephone, email, and signature.
HSK transcript valid within 2 years (HSK Level 5 over 210 or HSK Level 6 over 180)
Doctoral study plan
Catalogue and abstract of published papers, or other documents that prove academic ability
Please submit the abstract of your Master’s degree thesis instead of the full text
Photocopy of Passport (include personal information page and Chinese visa pages if applicable)
Non-criminal certificate (notarized photocopy in Chinese or in English)
Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form within 6 months

Important Notes
Applicants are responsible for fully understanding the application procedures and requirements, completing all steps as instructed, and submitting a complete and qualified application before the deadline. Applicants should regularly check the application portal and email for updates. Any consequences resulting from failure to follow the requirements or personal negligence shall be borne by the applicant.
The University will not process the following applications:
(1) Applications with incomplete materials or without payment of the application fee.
(2) Applications thatarenotsubmittedinthe online application system(suchasmail,email,etc).
During the application process, the University reserves the right to request original hard copies of application documents or certified verification documents issued by designated authorities for further review.
The University reserves the right to withdraw admission or student status under any of the following circumstances:
(1) The applicant's nationality is subject to the final determination of the Exit and Entry Administration of China. If an applicant is found to hold Chinese nationality during or after the admission process, the University reserves the right to cancel the application, admission, or student status.
(2) Applicants must ensure that all information and materials submitted are authentic and accurate. If any falsification or misrepresentation is verified by the University or relevant authorities, admission or student status will be revoked.
(3) Applicants found to have issues related to academic integrity, professional ethics, honesty, or compliance with laws and regulations will not be admitted or will have their enrollment canceled.
(4) Students may not be concurrently registered at more than one institution (except for officially approved joint programs). Violation of this rule will result in the cancellation of student status.
