On Mar. 29th, students from Intensive & Business Chinese Program went to the National Convention and Exhibition Center to visit the 32nd Shanghai International Hotel and Catering Industry Expo. The students, in the guise of "entrepreneurial gurus", came here in groups to investigate the new trends of various industries and brands, to get new inspiration and explore new business opportunities!
The expo featured more than 300 well-known brands, covering more than 100 mainstream segments. The content involves coffee, tea, baking, catering equipment, tabletop supplies, franchise chain and other aspects.
Students traveled from booth to booth, sampling, inspecting, interviewing and then discussing and deliberating to finalize their business field, product categories, target customer groups, store name, location, logo, etc.
Back in the classroom, the students actively shared their thoughts and gains from the trip and presented their plans, such as: Campus Tea Café, Duck Theme Café, Chinese Style Milk Tea Shop, Specialty Bakery, Elegant Upscale Hotel and so on.
Each team's plan was very thorough and all the students gave excellent presentations. They tried their best to win the trust of the "investors" in order to get more "start-up funds".
Social practice activity is an extension of Chinese class, taking students into various aspects of life in Chinese society, applying Chinese in real-life context, and gaining language progress and cultural insights.
