On a sunny autumn day, students of Class 2-1B in Intensive Chinese Program  went to Tianzi Lane to carry out lively and interesting social practice activity. They experienced the fusion of old and new Shanghai cultures, and exercised their Chinese oral communication skills.

Tianzi Lane was originally a block in old Shanghai, but later it settled in many shops with artistic flavor, such as photography studio, design studio and painter's studio. Huang Yongyu named it after the painter Tian Zifang, which means "the place where painters gather".

In Tianzi Lane, students experienced the elegance of old Shanghai and learned about the fusion of modern Shanghai art and creativity. What's more, there are also many delicacies in Tianzi Lane, students tasted the special snacks and said "they are very delicious".

The Chinese teacher carefully designed tasks of elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, covering various aspects such as exploring Tianzi Lane, understanding its history, and communicating with store owners and tourists in Chinese. The students worked in groups and completed tasks successfully and happily.

Back to class, everyone shared their own experiences and showed various forms of "Tianzi Lane Travel Notes", including photos, interview records, Vlog, and even posters designed for the stores.

Social practice activity is an extension of Chinese class, taking students into various aspects of life in Chinese society, applying Chinese in real-life context, and gaining language progress and cultural insights.
