On the afternoon of October 26th, the first session of "ECNU TALK" Chinese Corner activity of Featured Chinese Language Program of GEC was successfully held. This activity attracted about 30 international students over 10 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Russia, Indonesia and the United States, etc.and aroused enthusiastic responses.
The theme of this Chinese Corner is "Consumption Concept", Miss. MO led students to express themselves and gain a deeper understanding of the differences in consumption concepts among different countries through communication and sharing, and improve their Chinese communication skills and cross-cultural communication skills.
The activity kicked off with the sharing of "strange consumption phenomena". The students shared the strange consumption phenomena they encountered in their own lives, allowing everyone to understand many real and strange consumption phenomena that occur in life, such as conspicuous consumption, excessive consumption, repeated consumption, etc.
Subsequently, the students were divided into different groups based on their countries and actively explored their own consumption concepts. In this section, they learned about the mainstream consumption concepts in 12 different countries, including Mexico, the United States, Australia, South Korea, Japan, and Indonesia.
Finally, based on their actual situation, the students shared content such as the "stepping on the pit" event, "avoiding the pit" methods, high-quality shopping platforms, and shopping festivals. After listening to each group's sharing, the students expressed that they must remember these valuable shopping experiences in the future, establish correct consumption concepts, and choose the most cost-effective shopping methods.
After the event, the students were still unsatisfied and expressed their praise and recognition for this Chinese corner, as well as their expectations for the next Chinese corner.
The “ECNU TALK” Chinese Corner provides opportunities for students to communicate, share, brainstorm, and improve oral Chinese. We hope that more students will join us in the future!
