Study China Programme 2017 Wrapped up

The Study China Programme 2017 has successfully ended with the closing ceremony being held on April 21st. Mr. Aoying Zhou, vice president of ECNU, Dr. Johannes Lotze, the program supervisor from the University of Manchester, and Ms. Meixu Huang, the director of the Global Education Center attended the closing ceremony.

Prof. Aoying Zhou extended his warm congratulations to all the students and sincere thanks to all the teachers. He also expressed his expectation for this programme and appealed more communication and study opportunities for both International students from UK and Chinese students. Then, Dr. Johannes Lotze showed gratitude to his counterparts in ECNU for providing the students with precious chance to explore China and gain everlasting friendship. British student Shile Henrietta Gbelee and Chinese volunteer representative Chongbin Tang also expressed their true feelings on this programme.

Fabulous performance by 87 international students from UK universities was followed after the certificate awarding ceremony. Chinese songs, dance, play, kungfu and poetry reading performance pushed the ceremony to a climax.

This program lasts for three weeks. Apart from learning the Chinese language, taking lessons in martial arts, calligraphy, and Peking opera, they also visited Shanghai Museum, the Bund, Zhenjiang and Yangzhou. Around 20 Chinese volunteers participated in the programme, helping carry out all the activities smoothly.

Many students showed their great desire to return to Shanghai in the near future. Though the Study China Programme has ended for this time, the cooperation between two universities will continue, and the communication between British and Chinese students will never stop. We expect more and more international students from UK to study in ECNU. You are always welcome back to ECNU!
