Recently, over 30 international students from Indonesia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Poland, Japan, Vietnam, France, South Korea, and Russia gathered for another engaging ECNU Youth Talk Chinese Corner activity.
In groups, they selected a traditional Chinese festival, such as Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Qingming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Qixi Festival, or Mid-Autumn Festival, and worked together to search for materials and prepare their presentations a week in advance. At the beginning of the activity, the teacher gave a brief introduction to Chinese traditional festivals. Then, each group took turns presenting one of the six major traditional Chinese festivals, highlighting the origins, customs, cultural significance, and meanings of the festivals. After each presentation, the teacher hosted a rapid-fire quiz game called "How Much Do You Know About Festivals?" Students eagerly raised their hands to answer, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere. During the event, students also tried making simple Dragon Boat Festival treats, "zongzi," using cardboard and string. The event concluded with laughter and joy, immersing everyone in the festive spirit.
The ECNU TALK Chinese Corner continues to provide students with opportunities for exchange, sharing, and improving their spoken Chinese. We look forward to more students joining us next time for more inspiring exchanges!
