On October 23rd, the table tennis hall at Putuo Campus was filled with excitement as more than 40 international students from over 20 countries gathered for the International Students Table Tennis Tournament, a key event of the 18th International Cultural Festival.
Players competed with all their strength and determinationon on the court, earning rounds of applause for their precise smashes and clever defenses. After intense competition, champions emerged in each category.
In men's singles, Lee Seong won from South Korea topped the podium, while Anastasiia Zakharenkova from Russia won the women's singles.
The doubles matches were equally thrilling, showcasing seamless teamwork and friendship among pairs of different nationalities. Vladimir Krotov from Russia and Merdan Soyunov from Turkmenistan won the men's doubles, while Jayde Chun Lan Wong Fung Cheong from Mauritius and Louis Francis Joel Sylvain Clement from France claimed the mixed doubles crown.
This event fostered friendships and cultural exchanges among students from diverse backgrounds, and GEC plans to organize more similar activities in the future to promote cultural diversity and global understanding.
