On November 25th, students from Class 1-1B of Intensive Chinese Program went to Lu Xun Park and Tian'ai Road to carry out a highly popular social practice activity.
Lu Xun Park, as a major historical and cultural commemorative park in Shanghai and the first sports park in China, has beautiful scenery and profound history accumulation, and is an important place for citizens to relax.
In Lu Xun Park, the students conducted random interviews to learn about the daily hobbies and living habits of Chinese people. The warm and friendly citizens not only answered the questions positively, but also invited students to try calligraphy, square dance and chorus, which made the scene very lively. After one of the students neatly wrote down “We love China” with a brush, the onlookers let out a warm cheer and thunderous applause.
Then the students arrived at Tian’ai Road, which is known as the "most romantic" road in Shanghai. In the dreamy atmosphere of Tian’ai Road, students wrote down their expectations for themselves, blessings for family and friends, and love for the Chinese language course on the graffiti wall.
Through this activity, students gained a more intuitive understanding about the leisure life of Chinese people of different ages. After the activity, students presented the rich achievements in the form of oral reports based on the interview content and their thoughts.
Social practice activity is an extension of Chinese class, taking students into various aspects of life in Chinese society, applying Chinese in real-life context, and gaining language progress and cultural insights.
