Program Duration:

March 1st, 2027 - June 18th, 2027 (the first week is orientation week and classes start from March 8th, 2027).

*16 weeks in total (the orientation week included). In case of Chinese public holidays and school activities, classes will be adjusted or suspended.

*From December 28th, 2026, the school will notify admitted students by email in batches to complete the Chinese proficiency questionnaire and take an online placement interview. Please ensure that student email addresses are accurate and valid.

29 class hours per week (1 class hour = 45 minutes)

Morning: From Monday to Friday 8:30-11:45

Afternoon: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 13:15-15:45

Textbook:

Developing Chinese, New Target Chinese Spoken Language, etc.It will be adjusted according to the actual situation.The cost of teaching materials is at your own expense according to the specific class.

Levels:

Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Pre-advanced, Advanced. 

Class will be opened with a minimum of 8 students in the same level.

Diverse activities

We will build up a genuine Chinese cultural environment for all the students to motivate and enhance their language learning, arranging traditional cultural experiences, field trips to historical sights, thematic lectures, Chinese language competitions, exchange activities between Chinese and international students, etc.

1. Copy of Passport

★ When submitting your application, please ensure that your passport remains valid throughout the entire study period of the program for which you are applying. In principle, requests to update passport information will not be accepted prior to enrollment and registration.

2. ID Photo (Without Headwear)

★ The photo must meet the requirements for passport photos. It will be used to produce your campus card.

3. Study Certificate/Highest Diploma (Chinese/English version)

★ Applicants for Chinese language programs must have completed high school or obtained an equivalent or higher level of education. All application materials must be submitted in Chinese or English. If the original documents are in another language, notarized translations must also be provided.

4. Certificate of Enrollment or Transcript from an Educational Institution in China

★ If you are currently studying in China, please submit a certificate of enrollment issued by your current school (a certificate of completion must be submitted after completion of your studies) or a transcript.

5. Copy of Chinese Visa Page (if applicable)

6. Guarantee Statement

★ Applicants who are 16 years old or above but under 18 years old at the time of enrollment must submit a Guarantee Statement. The guardian must be a Chinese citizen or a foreign national residing in China.

Notes：

1. Regardless of whether the applicant is ultimately admitted, the application fee and all submitted application materials are non-refundable and non-returnable.

2. Application materials submission deadline (the application will be considered complete only after all required materials have been uploaded): 20:00, December 25, 2026 (Beijing Time).

3. Tuition payment deadline: 20:00, January 14, 2027 (Beijing Time).

2. After submitting your application, please check your email regularly and keep track of the application review and admission status. The review process generally takes approximately 2–4 weeks.

3. Age requirement: 18-55 years old (age calculated as of March 1, 2027). Applicants who are 16 years old or above but under 18 years old will be subject to an additional review by the university.

Refund Rules

A full refund is available for those who give up enrollment and complete the withdrawal procedures and visa cancellation procedures before the semester start date (by March 1st, 2027, inclusive); 70% refund for those who complete the withdrawal procedures and visa cancellation procedures within the first two weeks after the semester start date (by March 15th, 2027, inclusive); no refund afterwards.

Important Reminders

1. To ensure the proper functioning of the program, students who have paid their tuition fees will not be permitted to transfer to another Chinese language program during their first semester.

2. Tuition refunds will be processed in RMB (Chinese Yuan). After receiving all required refund documents, the University will transfer the refund to a Chinese bank account. If the student does not have a Chinese bank account, they may authorize another person to receive the refund on their behalf.

ECNU will provide students enrolled in the Long‑Term Chinese Language Program with the documents required to apply for a study visa. Students who have been admitted and paid the tuition fee will receive the Admission Letter and Visa Application Form (JW202/JW201/D0) by email. Students should apply for an X1 or X2 study visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their country or region of residence. Please allow sufficient time for visa processing. Students are expected to arrive at ECNU and complete registration on the designated date according to ECNU’s schedule. Please do not enter China too early, as this may result in overstaying your visa.

The first round of accommodation reservations for new students is expected to open in late December 2026. Students are required to pay their tuition fees in advance to be eligible to book accommodation. Accommodation will be offered subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Further details will be communicated via email.
