Target:
Standard Chinese Language Program (Enrollment in April for Beginners) is specifically designed for students with no prior Chinese language learning experience planning to enroll in April. Students will be placed in beginner-level classes.
Program Duration:
April 1st, 2026 – July 3rd, 2026. April 1st is the registration date. Classes start from April 6th, 2026 (if April 6th falls on the Qingming Festival holiday, classes will begin on April 7th).
*14 weeks in total (the registration week included). In case of Chinese public holidays and school activities, classes will be suspended.
*On February 25th, 2026, the school will notify students via email to complete a Chinese proficiency survey to determine whether their Chinese language skills are at a beginner level. Please ensure that student email addresses are accurate and valid.
Class Schedule:
Monday to Friday 13:30 pm-15:00 pm, 15:15 pm-16:45 pm,4 class hours each session (45min=1 class hour), 20 class hours per week.

Fees:
Application fee 800 RMB; tuition fee 7500 RMB/semester
Textbooks:
40 Lessons for Basic Chinese, Development Chinese, etc. Teachers will provide a list of textbooks at the beginning of the semester, and students may purchase textbooks based on the list for their classes.
Small Class: No more than 25 people per class.
Various Courses: ECNU outstanding Chinese teaching team, face to face to improve students’ Chinese with equal emphasis on listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Solid Foundation: Build a strong Chinese foundation for absolute beginners. Upon completion, students may enroll in Standard Chinese Language Program, ensuring a seamless transition to higher-level classes.
Filed Trip: Organized once a semester, and students may voluntarily sign up to enjoy the natural and humanistic landscapes and learn about Chinese society and culture (separate fee, voluntary enrollment).
Auxiliary Resources: Free VIP accounts for Chinese learning application.
Completion Certificate: Transcript and certificate of completion will be issued to students who successfully complete the course.

Refund Rules
If due to personal reasons, a full refund is available for those who give up enrollment and complete the withdrawal procedures and visa cancellation procedures before the semester start date (by April 1st, 2026, inclusive, for 2026 Standard Chinese Language Program (Enrollment in April for Beginners)); 70% refund for those who complete the withdrawal procedures and visa cancellation procedures within the first two weeks after the semester start date (by April 15th, 2026, inclusive); no refund after the first two weeks since the semester start date.
ECNU will provide visa application documents for students of Chinese Language Programs (semester duration).
New student housing reservations are expected to open in early March 2026. Students must complete tuition payment in advance to qualify for housing reservations. Reservations will be accepted based on actual room availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Specific arrangements will be communicated via email.
